Let's start with simple sentences. Before starting I want to clarify few things.

1) Examples given below follow the rules we have discussed so far. So grammar is not explained again. I would request you to read each sentence carefully and identify how the form of a particular word or verb is created.

2) Wherever a new concept or exception is introduced, I will try to explain it there.

3) Please note the Gujarati translation may not be the exact word-to-word translation.
e.g. when asking about someone’s height in English we say “How long are you?“ but Gujarati sentence will be similar to asking “What is your height”.
So you should sense the difference.

4) You know that form of verb changes depending on gender and multiplicity. So wherever applicable I have mentioned gender in brackets followed by the corresponding version of the sentence.

5) Because of British rule in India, English has been learnt and used widely throughout India. So the use of English words is quite common. In many cases, English words are natural choice than original Gujarati words !!

6) In Gujarati to say something with respect, the sentence is formed using the plural.
In English when telling about a friend you will say, “He goes to work”. While speaking about an elderly person with respect you will still say “He goes to work”. But in Gujarati second sentence (with respect) will form like saying “They go to work”.
To Indicate this I have marked such sentence as “To Man” or “To Lady”. So these are “with respect” versions.

So below I have given a few sentences which will answer questions like How to welcome guests in Gujarati”, “How to speak with guests in Gujarati” etc.
